Getting missing things

I am actually forced to write this blog as I have encountered with two pleasant scenario happened with my close ones during my presence itself. In both the scenario, people with me left their purse in the way but surprisingly got it back due to getting by responsible persons.

In first incident, I was roaming with my friends in night around Connaught Place In New Delhi. On returning back home, in way of Panchkuian Road, My friend's purse dropped from his pocket due to sheer negligence and no one from us could note it. We realize this when we reached home at Rajender Nagar. Cash in the purse was not a problem we there were not much cash in that but Debit and Credit Cards & ID Card were the part of concern most. We were thinking about going back to all the way and try to look for it in the hope that it is night and no one could get chance to look it (Just keeping false hope though :)).

So As soon as we started to going back to same place, my other friend receive call on his mobile, some one from the other side asked about the friend whose purse was get lost. After enquiring by caller, we came to know that caller has got the purse and informed us to take it back. It was mid night 12:00. We were really not able to realize that this can also be possible. We were so happy and started to going back for the same place. On reaching there we found that there was not one person who found the purse but was with his family (wife and children). Most probably they were just doing the night walk as day after that was holiday.

We said many thanks to them for calling us and giving information about lost purse, as we were not expecting that we really can get the purse back now. So we have collected the purse and came back happily.

Above incident happened in year of 2004 beginning I guess. Now next incident happened last week when me & my wife were going to Vasant Kunj for attending office sponsored party. In the way we stopped to ask the direction. In that place, my wife came out of car to understand the way, In that process neither she nor I realized that her purse has been dropped when she came out of car. After collecting direction information we moved forward to the party place.

Now upon reaching to the party place, My wife realized that her purse is not with her now. She told me that perhaps we missed it in the way. Here also the situation was similar, In the purse, she had kept the Debit Card. So for that we returned back immediately to the same place where we stopped for asking direction. But this time, luck was little hard, we got all the people sitting at the shop but no one of them, could answer about the purse. So we thought that we have lost it. Anyway, we came back to the party and decided that we should block the Debit card by next day morning.

So my wife made call to bank and asked them to block the card. We were not relaxed that only few bugs has been lost and we saved all the money in the bank. But after two days, my wife received a call from unknown Guy asking about if she had lost her purse on the way of Vasant Kunj. One man also came to our house for asking the same and told my wife that he is the caller friend. He told my wife that his friend receive this purse in the way and asked her if she can collect it from there. As I live in Ghaziabad, and due to very long distance my wife explained the difficulty to collect it. On this Guy told that he would get it back and give it to her in next couple of days as he goes to that way and also live near to our place.

My wife explained complete story to me, and I just remembered the above incident happened with us few years back. I was pretty happy on hearing this and felt gratitude to those people who are feeling such responsibility.

WOW!! WHAT A WONDER HAPPENED TODAY

Today when i was coming to office due to training purpose. I was following the usual way from which i normally come to office. At one red light before Noida Sector 58, I saw all the vehicle was stopped and patiently waiting for the red light. I also stopped at that red light and wait it for to get green.

Few pedestrian was passing by then through zebra crossing. One of them made a comment on us by saying "WOW!! WHAT A WONDER HAPPENED TODAY". I could not resist on my smile. As i know whom he was pointing the comment.

Usually none of vehicle stops at that red light but to surprise, today everyone was patiently waiting at that point. Hence he made comment. Also compel to think all of vehicle owners what other people (who don;t travel through personal vehicle) think about them.

Is Showing Patience makes other impatient and frustrated?

Since last 6 months, I am observing change of reaction towards myself by few near and dear ones. What i really observe is quite strange to me and it made me think again about my attitude towards others.

There were series of things i observed in form of reaction, weather it is a normal discussion about some materialistic things or someone else behaviour. Since last few six months i myself has gone through various phases of changes (but emerged successfully) hence got chance to observe other people reaction towards me. The strange thing was, whenever i am trying to keep my cool, that boils somebody else not on me but on the situation on which i am keeping patience.

For example, We (Me and my few friends) were going to attend one friend's marriage in Bijnor by my car. In between reaching to Merut, we stopped for a while for tea-break. What really has happened was, i forgot to take the keys out from the Car and locked it (with all the mirrors closed tightly). Just after locking the car, i realize my mistake, but i can't do anything. I told my friends, initially everyone reaction was OK, but soon when we tried to find the solution but could not get it due to being charged heavily by one mechanic available nearby. Everybody else was loosing his patience. I was also nervous but not trying to show others, I think that made everybody else furious. They are not furious on me, but on situation we get caught. Anyway after few more minute, we were out of that situation and reach to friend's place on time.::)

That was just a single example, but there are more from which i found that not showing nervousness by myself makes other furious.

I don;t know weather i am at right side or they are on right side, but i think i also need to learn few fake reaction i should show depends upon need.

Net Sickness

How can one define the Internet sickness? Spending lot of time on surfing, reading article & writing responses to them? Or not feeling good if could not able to do such things on the Internet.

But i am pretty much sure about the second part. As sometimes i feel that i should write few good article on the net but due to lack of peace full time, i am not able to do so since long time back. Sometime i feel frustrated due to this. As i realise this change of behaviour in myself since last few months, also i found that if i am able to do write even very simple thing for example on my Blogger even i felt a lot happier from inside. Feel of doing creativity, feel of doing something new gives me thrill after i wrote something.

I think time has been arrived for thinking something very seriously about this sickness.

is there really difference in working behavior of people based on different regions of India?

I always thought that every people reaction would be similar if he would face similar kind of problem in similar environment. But after few years of working in the industry my perception has been changed about my thought itself. I actually found that people do behave differently on similar problem they have to tackle.

But after working for more than five years in the industry, what i really learned is quite interesting as well as shocking. That interesting thing i found that, Based on the region of the person, working behavior differs very much towards their assigned responsibility and job. for example, two people who are from two different regions are working for similar kind of job in an organization, let's say in finance dept. Their way of handling the people and their job will be totally different. And i noticed this a lot if two persons are from North & South respectively.

I am not sure about others but i feel, people from north are more egoistic and hence they either try to accomplish their job in perfect manner or don;t do that at all. But this is not true in case of people from south. All in all, due to that reason i prefer north based people rather than south based.

Why large company buys a small company?

Vinny Carpenter’s blog: "Every time a large company buys a small company, I almost always flashback to a meeting I had in July 2000 with Paul Butterworth, who was then the CTO of Sun’s tools division. Paul had joined Sun as part of Sun’s acquisition of Forte Software. Paul Butterworth was the founder of Forte Software and spent a few months at Sun before moving on and starting AmberPoint, which is doing some really cool things. Not sure how many remember Forte Software, but Forte was the maker of a 4GL programming language called TOOL with a pretty cool n-tier architecture. Instead of using anything that Forte had, Sun decided to buy NetBeans and just use the name Forte for its tools. What a joke – billions of shareholder dollars wasted but that’s history now.
Any rate, a group of us got to spend an afternoon with Paul as part of a client visit. As we were quizzing him on why Sun bought Forte, he said something that’s still with me and rings true in most acquisitions. He theorized that large companies are always amazed at all the innovation coming from small companies and so they buy these small companies in hopes of bringing the small company magic into the larger company - and that almost never works as the small companies were innovative because they weren’t constrained by all the big company process, policies and red-tape. The minute the small company joins the large company, innovation stops as people that could have been creative and really stretched were now constrained by all the big company bureaucracy."

Importance of clear communication

Sometime when we communicate to people surrounding to us, we felt that whatever we are communicating to them, they are getting it completely. But when we try to communicate further on the same topic we have discussed few days back, we came to know they they could not get the discussion even half at that time.

Similar case has been happened with me when I was chatting with my client on Skype. We have discussed some functionality and both came to conclusion that we have understood completely. But when I was trying to rediscuss the same thing for some clarification, I came to know that our perspective were not matching at that time.

The reason for this mismatch in communication was, He was assuming that I already have that kind of mindtest in which he live. So he didn;t explain the details about that. And that causes the confusion.

Anyway I have learned one more thing from this, Listen carefully to other and also document whatever discussion has been happened. Review it again for better understanding and ask about clarification without any hesitation. Through this way only we can avoid the mis-communication.

These days, I am enjoying my holidays in my friend house in Karol Bagh. Here everything that you need is very close to house. So we never have to think twice.

Here is also one school in front of the house. In this school every morning one can see children playing, exercising and performing lot of extra curricular activities. One morning i saw group of children performing Yogic exercises. Everyone was performing Suryasana very well except their Instructor. In fact she was the one who was not doing yoga at all. Also her body structure was also explaining that she can't do yogic exercise, but she was instructing whole group of children to do yogic exercises.

After seeing this, the thought came to my mind was, how can be possible to learn from an instructor who does not have any knowledge of the subject that he/she was instructing.

I also discussed same thing with my friend, according to him, "Here, we don't assign the job to a person who is capable for that, instead always assign job to a person that we know is not capable but expect from that person to do well in that job."

Selecting a suitable organization

Although title seems that it is going to explain how to select a suitable organization to work, when you have expertise in one area and want to pursue your career in that area only for long run. But in fact it puts up questions rather than giving answers before selecting a suitable organization. Here in this case i am taking an example of my close colleague. It might be same for others too who has the same feeling as he had.

Right now after working in IT industry over 4.5 years in J2EE platform, He has decided that he is going to continue his career in JAVA only. But since last few months people who were leading the project wants him to leave the JAVA and enter into build and installer area that he was not looking for. So things happened like, he have to leave the projects.

Now these days he is looking for suitable opportunity that should be well aligned with his career goals. But some time he got confused weather he should go for managerial area or technical area.

So If any one has suggestion on his situation please make comment. People who had already faced that phase are most welcome to comment on this.

Having a Bad Lead or Boss

I don't know how many of you have ever faced this situation. But I faced it at the very beginning of my career when i just entered into the software industry. That was the time when lot of product companies were here in NCR region. And each of them were having one office in United States.

I joined River Run Software as a fresher and got involved in a project where every team member was having more than five year experience at that time. except one guy who was my two year senior. In that project i got a bad boss, who was not having much experience with handling freshers i guess. So he was treating me like normal experience guy and was behaving like same.

Soon I got fed up with him and feeling bored in the project. Apart from that he usually kept a constant vigilance on me and push me to stay late and finish the job by that day itself. In fact he usually used to push the whole team to do same. That gave me really bad experience and i changed myself as defensive rather than creative and innovative person.

So after working with that guy around one and half year, I joined the Induslogic. Here i got a best lead i would get ever. He knows how to handle the fresher as well as some normal experienced guy. I gave my best during the whole duration i worked with him around two years. That is the person i would like to work always in my future too.

Then I got the chance to go to client side at Clarus System. Here also my luck was good. And i got a really good VP. She was also having lot of experience how to work with experience guys. i also enjoyed working with her for about six months.

Now bad time starts for me, may be to teach me few lesson required in life. I got a bad boss in the Clarus itself as new VP has joined the company after sacking old one. This guy was also tries to keep pushing the guy till the guy does not oppose. I am not that kind of guy who likes to be pushed always. For me, all that matters is the result. So Bosses should only care about that. They should not care about the timing invested in the office by a sub-ordinate. So that was a bad experience of about three months.

Here after joining Induslogic India office, I joined in a new project. Here also the same issue. I guess my bad luck was continued. But this time i was prepared how to tackle this. And i opposed the kind of keep pushing behaviour. In result Lead felt bad. I discussed the matter with him and explained him my way of work. Up to some extent we both agreed not to do this again.

Now i am working with different lead and it seems to me, he is good person as i always look for. Basically he is a logical person who understand the things first and then forward it to us how to execute. I like this kind of behaviour. And i am in hope that things would surely improve in future.

Fighting with myself

Sometimes it happens to me that i have to fight with my inner-self to prove that i am correct or vice verse. This situation arises when i tried to create my image in eyes of some body else which doesn't reflect my true image wholly or partially. For example, Some friends thinks that i am a miser person who does not spend money easily.

But my definition of miser is little different, i.e. person who does not spend money easily when needed. So usually if person is close i tries to explain him my perspective of miserliness. but when person who is not close or i have just met, it usually becomes little difficult for me to pursue him. And then self fighting starts for either my definition is correct or what people thinks is correct.

For example like yesterday's incident, i was returning from Oakland after moving luggage of my friend on his new hotel. There in hotel, i met many new people who were working for the same client for which my friend was about to start. After meeting and talking with them, i decided to return back to San Francisco on the same day as another friend was about to come in my Unit.
Way of returning from Oakland is, one has to reach the nearest BART Station and then catch the BART to San Francisco. That nearest BART station was around 15-20 minutes distance by walk, as per hotel staff updated me. So i put this suggestion to all other people. One of them give me a look like, if i am fearing of spending $1.50 just for reaching the BART station.
Although that was true, But I don't want to show them that feeling, instead of trying to give them another way for thinking. I explained them that it is not like that i don't want to catch Bus, instead i want to cover that distance by foot, so that when i have to come back alone, i should not forgot the way. Then i saw on the faces of those people, it seems to me that they were convinced.
Although finally i catch the bus only and found that distance was more than 15-20 minutes. But my inner self was not convinced that time with the explanation i had given to those people. Finally i have to told my self that whatever explanation i had given that time was the correct. It took me more than 30 minutes to pursue myself for that. But at last i was successful.:)

Bothering with strange feeling

I am a professional in software industry since last four years and doing well in other's (not me!) perspective. Although I do my job with great enthusiasm and dedication and tried to finish the job with almost no issues, but sometimes, I could not achieve the stage of perfect ness as I have expected from myself. But for that, I believe that is fine too, as it also helps in some form of improvement.

But I realize one issue within me during four years span of my experience. This issue always comes after three or four months of joining new projects. Whenever I join new project, I tries my best to keep my learning curve high, so that I can cover all information in fewer time than anyone else. During learning curve, I felt so much excited that I can't explain here in words.

But as soon as I learned in good extent about the project and felt comfortable working with project, I felt bored with the project just after working for one or more month in that project with my full capacity. It seems to me that there is nothing new to do in the project. Sometimes even situation got so worse that I don’t feel to do any work that is related to the project for few continuous days, and that situation makes the matter worse. Even sometimes that raised the concern within myself that if I am heading in right direction for my future.

At that time I extremely felt to search something new in technology or anything that I have not done earlier. In this whole process, I evaluate myself very badly and then felt frustrated. This feeling continues until I do something new in any forms, weather it was related with software industry or anything else. For example sometimes finding new website that help others for some troubleshooting provide me satisfaction or finding a new News website in Hindi, even learning cooking was also one possible solution for me to come out of that situation.:)

I am not aware if any one else has also felt the same with oneself. As I never heard other people to say like this. So I am trying myself to overcome this issue.

Understand the difficulties attached with simple task

Sometime you don’t realize that, some things that might be so obvious to you may be too hard for other. For Example e-Mail, it seems so easy for us that we don’t think that it might be hard for other. If you are also in the same state, think again!

My father has started to send me e-mails few months back. For me sending email is just like doing daily activities. Believe me! Being in software industry, this happens to everyone I can bet.

Today when I saw the mail from my father, I don’t know how I realized that sending mail to him be quite difficult. As he has to learn everything from scratch, that includes, starting Windows, opening the internet explorer window, open the mail web site (he use yahoo), login into the e-mail account; compose the mail, writing the e-mail address and sending it through clicking send button. But more than that, believing that e-mail has actually been sent. (Just try to remember when you send your first mail).

I think he had done the great job and he learned so quickly, even I can’t think of it, when I would be of that age. I am proud on my Father.

US spoils people by not using them at full capacity

Few days back, there was a news in BBC Hindi Service that, since last four years 25 thousand indian people have returned back to INDIA from US in search for better work and career growth. Although In India every one believe of cutting edge technology work and good work is not being outsourced from US. But it seems that reality is very much different what we think when we are in INDIA.

Actually most people returned back as here they are not getting good growth in their career while working in US. Most of the people (Indian) whom i met (having good 8+ yr exp) here are doing the job that even a person of 4 yr experience can do that pretty easily.

So One can guess that main issue is career growth, and work quality only. People are compell to do the simple job as they are not having any option unless they don't want to return back to India.

So In other terms people who got experience from here actually are of no use in technical field in INDIA. So most of them has joined as Manager in INDIA. And because they are used to do the simple job, they are not able to generate any work or setup business in INDIA. They are having no guts (most of them not all). And the reason for that is, life is too easy here, person don;t need to do big effort to make his life better. And that makes the person dull and lazy.

Doesn;t it seems that US spoils the (Indian) people by not using them at full capacity. :)

Why marriages in Hindu Religion are ever lasting?

This whole weekend I passed my time in reading News Paper on net and watching TV. But the news, I thought this whole weekend is related to meeting of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Meeting. This meeting has been finished on Sunday with some small changes in their tradition to cope with the new environment.

One of the changes is related with getting divorce. Now there would be no divorce merely speaking “Talak” three times. Person has to go to Quazi for that. This is a good change for the stable marriage life among Muslims. Now both the member has to come out in front of Mosque and has to appeal for divorce to Quazi. And that’s the person’s nature that one doesn’t want one’s personal life to become public.

Now I am not in wonder why marriages in Hindu religion are so everlasting, because there is no option provided in the religion to get separate. One might be disagree with me by saying that divorce can be achieved through the court order. But one thing should be noted that court can only issue divorce when marriage has been happened through court itself.
But now I wonder why there is no option of getting divorce in Hindu religion? As per Hindu religion person can perform one or more marriages (although not possible as per government laws) during his life time. So there must be some provision for getting separation too. I will try to find out through some religious books. :)

Regularization of Corruption in USA

Being as an Indian, I myself is very familiar with the existence of various form of corruptions in India. Every governmental or non-governmental organization have some form of corruption within it. And now the situation has reached to such a level that it is being accepted by society and by government unofficially. I don't know where it will lead to our country in future. May God help my country to get over with this corruption.

Before entering into USA, I was in belief that there must not be any kind of corruption. But after living here for few months, I realized that One can't feel the corruption at first glance but certainely would realize if look closely around the enviornment. For example, if we look closely about the VISA processing procedure of INS department here. There are two type of charges available. One is normal regular fee for normal processing that tooks quite a long time. Another is a premium processing fee, in which processing take prcedence over normal. And the thing that matters with premium and normal processing is only money and nothing else. Isn't it another form of corruption besides that it is regularize and being backed up by government.:)
